02/14/10 Sound Out the Alphabet
Playing with and experimenting with typography always makes me happy and today I was happy. I came across an old post from September on Typophile. The man from Bangkok used what looks like a mixture of corn starch, dye, and water and then placed that inside a speaker. With the speaker turned up he let the substance engulf the letters producing some great typography in motion. Smart and creative.

01/10/10 Push and Puhl
I‘ve finally finished the rest of the letter-forms of the font created for the Anderson Fall Bash. The font, named Puhl, follows a strict grid format however is still quite customizable for any display font needs. You can take a closer look at the font in the Selected Works section and is available for download in the store.
10/05/09 A Letter for You and Me
‘ve been following the amazing work of Jessica Hische for awhile now. She has recently started a project called the Daily Drop Cap. Like the name implies, Jessica will illustrate a new drop cap every day. The best part is these are available for people to use on their own blogs for free.
07/30/09 Gabriel Martínez Meave
Discovered this great video in researching custom blackletter type. Gabriel Martínez Meave gives a demonstration on the creation of the blackletter forms. Granted, there isn’t any dialogue, but you get the gist of what’s going on by watching it. It’s always great to see a “making of” video. If there is one thing I got from the short clip, it is how these great forms are created from the fluidity and restraint of the hand.
05/25/09 Flat-it Fonts

Have you ever seen a great vintage sign or painted ad on a brick building? Well, independent Japanese type-foundry, Flat-it Fonts, has taken the feel of these great signs and released a series of fonts called Holiday Type. My favorites are Cartoleria and Fiorista. I could just picture Fiorista being used on a menu for some cozy little Italian restaurant. Each font is only $20.00. Check out some of there other great fonts as well.
03/17/09 Lagarto

Courtney over at Design Work Life is looking forward to the release of this typeface by Kimera and so am I. It looks as if it will be available through FontShop.

02/12/09 Linzie Hunter

Linzie Hunter creates some great hand lettering and illustrations. Her newest project involves illustrating those pesky little spam emails we all get. These just crack me up. Linzie has created 30 of these great pieces and packaged them in one compact post-card book. Check out more of the Spam book and more of her work here.
01/21/09 Alex Trochut

Found Alex a few months ago but thought I’d finally post his work, which is simply incredible. His attention to detail and immaculate craftsmanship make each illustration somewhat surreal. Trochut’s work philosophy is that of “more is more”, being completely apparent in his works. Alex is most known for his exquisite custom typography however his illustrations are equally as good. Alex is based in Barcelona, Spain. Check out more at his website.
