Just finished up a new avatar for some of my online accounts this evening. Felt I should take a break from the client work and mess with this. I’ve really been getting more and more into heavy textures and utilizing them for implied shading. These textures are from some cool brush sets I’ve found but I’m starting to make my own from various materials such as a toothbrush with ink, a spraypaint can, and my airbrush gun.

On a side note, I’ll be in a poster show this Saturday at Artlink, a local art gallery here in Fort Wayne, IN. I’ll be posting some pictures of the work I did for the show. Stay tuned!

So two weeks after the inaugural appearance of the Friday Sneak Peek I was invited to Dribbble by nice fellow and now fellow dribbbler, Corey Haggard. Dribbble is a show and tell for designers, developers, and creatives to share sneak peeks of their work. I’ve since been busy uploading some sneak peeks of my own and some pieces from scratch as Dribbble-one-offs. I’ll try and post larger updates of my work on this blog but to stay current and see projects in development bookmark my Dribbble page and check it out once and awhile.

Since I have not recieved an invitation for a Dribbble account yet, I figured I’d start my own little update system. Every Friday I’ll try and post a 380px X 350px cropped image of something I’m working on currently. The crop will only be a detail so it’ll keep you guessing on the final project. Hehe. Check back this Friday and the next and then next for a little insight into what’s being displayed on Aaron’s monitor.

I‘ve finally finished the rest of the letter-forms of the font created for the Anderson Fall Bash. The font, named Puhl, follows a strict grid format however is still quite customizable for any display font needs. You can take a closer look at the font in the Selected Works section and is available for download in the store.

This morning I launched the 2010 Fort Wayne Addy website. It’s a small site but still a fun project. I will also have the privilege of handling some of the other collateral and design for the event. This year we’re taking it back to 1961 and visiting the days where drinking a glass of scotch for breakfast was perfectly normal. I’ll post more work as they hit the press.

I recently finished a total of 30 illustrations to be included in a little side project for a very close friend of mine. I wanted to keep them simple and playful utilizing some fine textures to bring depth. The final Illustrations were printed at close to 4 in. in height as there is a bit more detail than these small images let you see.

Per my tradition of procrastination I finished a piece for my alma mater’s Faculty and Alumni Show the day drop-off was due. I decided I just wanted to play with a simple letter for this show (somewhat inspired by the previous post — Jessica Hische’s Daily Drop Cap). I went through the alphabet looking for the best letter to wrap or tie up. Here is the finished product.

I was approached by the local AAF Fort Wayne chapter to handle the creative for this year’s AAF District 6 Fall Conference. The theme revolved around cultivating and gathering information hence the name “Cerebral Harvest.” The Cerebral Harvest website went live today—behind schedule—but at least it’s up.

On April 17th I exhibited in the Fort Wayne Museum of Art’s College Night show. The exhibit only lasted one night but showcased some of the young talent of Fort Wayne’s art community. This will be the last College Night for me as I will be graduating very shortly and earning my big boy pants.

When I received a class assignment to create a band poster, I figured it the perfect opportunity to pay homage to my favorite band, MuteMath. The assignment called for an Industrial Revolution style, which was quite fitting as MuteMath’s look is just that. Here’s the poster in all her glory — from an in-arguably very rough sketch, to an inked drawing, to the finished product. You can view the poster in detail in the Selected Works section.
