Found this BEAUTIFUL time lapse short from Sean Stiegemeier covering the Icelandic volcano eruption. I can’t even fathom how to pronounce the name of that thing. The wonderful overlay music is by Jónsi. Check out Sean’s Vimeo page and website for some more extremely superb film and photography.

Wow I’ve been away from this blog for quite some time now. I’ve been quite busy with some client work and I’m now full-time at WaterFurnace International in the marketing department. The in-house team handles everything creative for two, cutting-edge brands. Both brands are going through their own re-branding. Exciting things to come and I’ll be posting some updates periodically.

Enough of that, my boss at WaterFurnace actually forwarded this video to me. Great little documentary on the lost art of commercial painting. Beautifully executed. Reminds me of videos I’ve seen on pin striping and gold leafing — how it’s simply not done anymore. Glad to see Stella Artois is keeping them busy though. Need to keep this stuff going.

To the left is the last 3-minutes of a stop animation video titled “Metropolis” by Rob Carter. Rob is a Brooklyn-based photographer and videographer who enjoys playing with iconic structures and cultural trends. He had this to say about “Metropolis”:

“…this is less a warning, as much as a statement of our paper thin significance no matter how many monuments of steel, glass and concrete we build.”

I found the video intriguing in his process and in a cultural statement sense but at the same time it just reminded me of the good ol’ days of Sim City. Haha. Look at Rob’s website for more videos and photography.

Art & Copy is a great new documentary that’s been in the making since 2005. This film brings forth the work and wisdom of some of the great advertising creatives to date. Not to mention, these guys have some great saterical lines in the trailer. Looks like an entertaining and informative flick. You can read more at Artandcopy.com.

I‘ve been waiting for this movie for awhile. I’m not a fanatic as I only read the book once when I was a kid and I recently went to Barnes & Noble for a refresher on the story. Nevertheless the movie looks visually stunning and I only hope the story follows suit.
