08/24/10 New Avatar

Just finished up a new avatar for some of my online accounts this evening. Felt I should take a break from the client work and mess with this. I’ve really been getting more and more into heavy textures and utilizing them for implied shading. These textures are from some cool brush sets I’ve found but I’m starting to make my own from various materials such as a toothbrush with ink, a spraypaint can, and my airbrush gun.

On a side note, I’ll be in a poster show this Saturday at Artlink, a local art gallery here in Fort Wayne, IN. I’ll be posting some pictures of the work I did for the show. Stay tuned!

So two weeks after the inaugural appearance of the Friday Sneak Peek I was invited to Dribbble by nice fellow and now fellow dribbbler, Corey Haggard. Dribbble is a show and tell for designers, developers, and creatives to share sneak peeks of their work. I’ve since been busy uploading some sneak peeks of my own and some pieces from scratch as Dribbble-one-offs. I’ll try and post larger updates of my work on this blog but to stay current and see projects in development bookmark my Dribbble page and check it out once and awhile.

Here is the second Friday Peek of all time. This is part of a cover for a brochure on a commercial geothermal unit.

* Friday Peek is an effort to broadcast what I’m currently working on. Every Friday I’ll try and post a 380px X 350px cropped image of what’s on my screen. Please comment if you have any critique or thoughts.

Lovely illustrations by designer and animator Rexbox. Found these as a result of looking at the new 2012 Olympic mascots. I think Rexbox’s little characters would have been a fantastic visual to accompany and carry the enthusiasm of the Olympics. These guys are incredibly cute and have so much emotion. Too bad the mascots used are nothing like these. But check out Rexbox’s other cool works.

05/24/10 Swagger Wagon

A friend tweeted this the other day. Pretty hilarious. It’s good to see Toyota swinging back with some great adverts after its big safety debacle. It also doesn’t hurt that the mother is on the attractive side. I love Toyota’s new 1930′s era Avalon commercials and then this is thrown on the orgasmic pile.

Take a gander at the first Friday Peek. It’s a little detail of a new website I’m creating. This particular image is of the homepage. A lot of work must be done yet but I’m pretty stoked to see this thing roll out soon. Check back next Friday!

05/17/10 Friday Updates

Since I have not recieved an invitation for a Dribbble account yet, I figured I’d start my own little update system. Every Friday I’ll try and post a 380px X 350px cropped image of something I’m working on currently. The crop will only be a detail so it’ll keep you guessing on the final project. Hehe. Check back this Friday and the next and then next for a little insight into what’s being displayed on Aaron’s monitor.

(ya I just wrote in third person)

Found this BEAUTIFUL time lapse short from Sean Stiegemeier covering the Icelandic volcano eruption. I can’t even fathom how to pronounce the name of that thing. The wonderful overlay music is by Jónsi. Check out Sean’s Vimeo page and website for some more extremely superb film and photography.
